What you will be surprised about is that I\u2019m a bit disappointed I\u2019m finished. Yes, finished. Thing is, Tile Mountain have got a competition running where you can win tiles for a bathroom or a kitchen. To be fair, even though I have the bathroom still to do it would have been nice to have done both, the amount of tiles they\u2019ve got! So, with one room left which needs more than a little TLC and I\u2019m talking Tiles Looking Cool \u2013 as well as Tender Loving Care &#8211; I thought I\u2019d get some inspiration from Tile Mountain. Plus I need no excuse to create a new Pinterest mood board or two although it will be the virtual death of me. An eclectic mix of Nordic-style patchwork tiles and muted sophisticated palettes to sooth away even the most shocking of days! If I\u2019d thought about the renovation more I should have got the bathroom done first \u2013 it is after all the room where all the stresses of renovations can be washed away!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.pinterest.com\/RenovateMecouk\/bathroom-makeover\/\" data-pin-board-width=\"400\" data-pin-scale-height=\"200\" data-pin-scale-width=\"80\" data-pin-do=\"embedBoard\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Follow Renovate Me&#8217;s board Bathroom Makeover on Pinterest.<\/a><!-- Please call pinit.js only once per page --><script src=\"\/\/assets.pinterest.com\/js\/pinit.js\" async=\"\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>So, onto the room itself. The shower room is part of the original cottage and is solid wall construction so we can assume pre 1919. It has a beam running through part of the room and is a strange configuration with limited natural light. However someone has utilised the area over the stairs by creating an enclosed sink area. But the mystery is how to access the taps, as the whole sink area is enclosed, I think I\u2019m going to need to smash through the existing tiles and wall to get the sink out \u2013 sounds fun!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/1.jpg\" data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-636\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/1.jpg 626w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.jpg\" data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-637\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At best the tiles are white and boring, the shower tray has seen better days and the mosaic linoleum was presumably the height of bathroom fashion at some point, but certainly not now.<\/p>\n<p>The room would benefit from becoming a wet room and tiled floor to\u00a0 ceiling. Matthew Miles of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hlpukltd.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HLP UK Ltd<\/a> who specialises in 3D technology kindly created a 3D visual to show the room configuration.<\/p>\n<p data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-638 alignnone\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-300x261.jpg\" alt=\"3\" width=\"300\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-300x261.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/3.jpg 335w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I love these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/black-slate-split-face-mosaic.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Black Face Split Tiles<\/a> they would look truly beautiful with water running down them and beautiful plants against them rather like Welsh slate in its natural rural habitat. I also love the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/velvet-grey-decor.html?___store=default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Velvet<\/a>\u00a0tiles and if I had a larger room I would certainly use them, however the room in question has a floor area<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/black-slate-split-face-mosaic.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-640\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Black-Slate-Split-Face-Tile-300x278.jpg\" alt=\"Black-Slate-Split-Face-Tile\" width=\"223\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Black-Slate-Split-Face-Tile-300x278.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Black-Slate-Split-Face-Tile.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/bathroom\/range\/velvet.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-639\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/18136bae252e2d3f7a59fc5911774a3a-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"18136bae252e2d3f7a59fc5911774a3a\" width=\"343\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/18136bae252e2d3f7a59fc5911774a3a-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/18136bae252e2d3f7a59fc5911774a3a.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>of only 3.68 m\u00b2 so I focused my attention on a smaller, lighter colour but still keeping a rustic, rural style which the cottage demands.<\/p>\n<p>So after some considerable time browsing through various styles, my top 3 included the new range <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/ribera-grey-slate-effect-wall-tile.html\">Ribera Grey Slate<\/a> from Tile Mountain, which would chime nicely with the grey theme running through the downstairs of the house as would the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/brix-anthracite-wall-tile.html\">Brix Anthracite<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/bathroom-tiles\/range\/brix.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-641\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Brix_Grey-_930_-300x124.jpg\" alt=\"Brix_Grey-_930_\" width=\"476\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Brix_Grey-_930_-300x124.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Brix_Grey-_930_.jpg 970w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 476px) 100vw, 476px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, my final go to is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/bathroom\/range\/craquele.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Craquele wall tile<\/a>, a smaller tile with a sense of high end class and allows for various tones to be used. I would select <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/craquele-dove-wall-tile.html\">Dove<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/craquele-lead-wall-tile.html\">Lead<\/a>. The unevenness of the tile gives it the rustic feel I\u2019m looking for, but the gloss lends the room more light than a matt finish would and also highlights the original beam running through the room.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/bathroom\/range\/craquele.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-imagelightbox=\"g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-642 alignnone\" src=\"\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/craquele1-300x129.jpg\" alt=\"craquele1\" width=\"454\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/craquele1-300x129.jpg 300w, https:\/\/renovateme.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/craquele1.jpg 343w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 454px) 100vw, 454px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And to finish, I\u2019d introduce a splash of bohemia by way of the beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilemountain.co.uk\/p\/skyros-delft-grey-wall-and-floor-tile.html\">Skyros Delft Grey<\/a> tiles.
